Scythians

Long, long ago, there were people called Scythians. They were super skilled horse riders and warriors who lived in a huge area of land. Think of them as ancient cowboys, but even more adventurous! They traveled a lot, moving their homes and families across vast plains. They were known for being brave and strong, and they loved to decorate themselves and their belongings with beautiful things.

The Scythians lived in a place called the Eurasian Steppe. This is a giant, grassy plain that stretches across parts of Europe and Asia. It’s so big, it’s like traveling from your home all the way to another country, and then some!

They didn't have one single city like we do today. Instead, they were nomadic, meaning they moved around a lot with their herds of animals. Their homes were often tents that could be packed up easily.

The Scythians were amazing artists, especially when it came to working with gold! They made incredible jewelry, like necklaces, bracelets, and even decorations for their horses’ bridles. They loved to create pictures of animals, like lions, deer, and griffins (which are like mythical lion-birds!).

These animal pictures were often very detailed and showed the animals in action. It’s like they had a special superpower for making gold shine and animals look fierce!

Even though the Scythians lived thousands of years ago, we still learn about them today. Archaeologists, who are like treasure hunters for history, dig up their ancient burial mounds. These mounds are like time capsules, filled with amazing artifacts like gold objects, weapons, and even the remains of their horses!
