Fun Fact
France is shaped like a hexagon!

Where is France?

Imagine a big country in Europe called France! It's shaped a bit like a hexagon, a shape with six sides. France has lots of different places inside it called regions.

Some are on the big mainland, and some are far away across the ocean, like islands! These regions are like giant neighborhoods, each with its own unique look and feel. Some have sandy beaches, while others have tall mountains where you can ski!

France's Big Family!

France is like a big family with 18 regions! Thirteen of these regions are right there in Europe, making up the main part of France. The other five regions are super special because they are overseas.

Think of them like France's cousins living on faraway islands! Each region is made up of even smaller parts called departments, like how your house is made of rooms. It's a way to organize everything so it's easy to manage.

What Makes Each Region Special?

Every region in France is like a different flavor of ice cream! Some regions are famous for their yummy food, like cheese and bread. Others have amazing history, with old castles and stories to tell.

You might find regions with beautiful vineyards where grapes grow for juice and wine, or regions with bustling cities full of life. It’s like each region has its own superpower that makes it stand out!

Who Lives There?

Lots of people live in France's regions! They speak French, but sometimes they have their own special ways of talking too. People in France love their traditions, like festivals and delicious food. They also have schools where kids learn all sorts of cool things, just like you! Each region has a main city, like a capital, where important decisions are made and lots of people live and work.
