Queensland is a super-duper big state in the northeast of Australia. It's so large, it's like having six of the biggest countries in Europe all smooshed together! It has warm weather most of the year, which is why it's called the 'Sunshine State'.
You can find amazing places here, like sparkly beaches, tall mountains, and even rainforests where monkeys swing from trees. It’s a place full of sunshine and adventure!
Adventures on Land and Sea!
Queensland is home to the Great Barrier Reef, the biggest coral reef in the whole world! It's so big, you can see it from space! It's like a giant underwater city filled with colorful fish and friendly turtles.
On land, Queensland has everything from fluffy white sandy beaches to dry, dusty deserts. It even has big rivers and lush green rainforests. It’s like having a whole world of different places to explore!
A Long, Long Time Ago...
People have lived in Queensland for thousands and thousands of years! Long before anyone else arrived, Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islanders called this land home. Then, explorers sailed from far away. In 1859, Queensland became its own special place, like getting a new toy to play with! It was named after Queen Victoria, who was a very important queen back then.
Lots of People and Lots to Do!
Over 5.5 million people live in Queensland. The biggest city is Brisbane, which is like a super busy town with lots of tall buildings. Many people love to visit Queensland because it's so sunny and beautiful. They come to swim in the ocean, see the amazing reef, and play on the beaches. Lots of people also work in jobs like mining, farming, and helping tourists have fun!
