Quad Cities Area, Iowa-Illinois Border at Mississippi River

Key Facts
Where the River Friends Live!
The Quad Cities are like a team of five cities playing together in two different states: Iowa and Illinois! In Iowa, you have Davenport and Bettendorf. Then, across the big Mississippi River in Illinois, you find Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline. They all hang out in a special valley called the Mississippi River Valley. It's a place with lots of water and green spaces, perfect for adventures!
How They Became a City Team
Once upon a time, there were only three cities, called the Tri-Cities. But then, two more friends joined the party! First, East Moline came along, making it four cities. Later, Bettendorf decided to join the fun too, making it five cities! Even though there are five cities, people still call them the Quad Cities, which is like a fun nickname that stuck around from when there were four.
Lots and Lots of People!
Guess how many people live in the Quad Cities? It's a super big number, almost half a million people! That's like filling up a giant playground with grown-ups and kids more than 400 times! All these people live in the Quad Cities metropolitan area, which means they all live close enough to work and play together. It's a busy and exciting place to be!
What Do People Do There?
People in the Quad Cities do all sorts of jobs! They work in factories making things, they teach kids in schools, and they help people in hospitals. Because they are near the Mississippi River, they also move goods and products on boats. This helps trade and makes the cities busy and important places for business. It's like a big team working together to make things happen!
