Puncak Jaya

Puncak Jaya is a super tall mountain in Indonesia, on an island called New Guinea. Its name means "Victorious Peak"! It's so high, it's like standing on top of the world for an island. It's even higher than many famous mountains you might have heard of. This amazing peak is part of a long line of mountains called the Sudirman Range. It's a truly special place in the world!

Puncak Jaya is a whopping 4,884 meters (that's 16,024 feet!) tall. To give you an idea, that's taller than 30 Empire State Buildings stacked on top of each other! It's so high that the air gets very thin and cold at the top. It's the highest point in all of Oceania, which is a huge area including Australia and many islands. Puncak Jaya is famous for being the highest mountain peak on any island on Earth. It's also one of the "Seven Summits," which are the highest mountains on each continent.
