Prambanan

Prambanan is like a secret treasure hidden in the beautiful country of Indonesia, on an island called Java. It's not in a big city, but a little way out, about as far as riding your bike to a friend's house if they lived in the next town over. It sits right on the border between two special areas, like a magical doorway between two lands.

A super long time ago, almost 1200 years back, clever builders created these amazing temples. They were built for special Hindu gods. Think of it like building the biggest LEGO castle ever, but with huge stones! There were originally 240 buildings, which is more than all the classrooms in your school and many schools nearby put together. It shows how much people loved art and building back then.

The main temple is super tall, about as high as a 15-story building or a very, very tall giraffe! It’s pointy and looks like it’s trying to touch the clouds. These temples tell stories from old Hindu tales through carvings on the walls. It’s like reading a comic book, but made of stone! Even though Prambanan is very old, it's still a very important place. People visit it to learn about history and art. It's a special place that the world has decided to protect, called a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means everyone agrees it's too special to forget.
