Pen (enclosure)

A pen is like a special room for animals, but it's outside! It's made with fences or walls to keep animals like cows, sheep, or even pet bunnies safe. Think of it as a big playpen for animals, so they don't wander off too far. Farmers use them to keep their farm animals together and protected from anything that might be scary.

People have been building pens for a super long time, even before castles were built! They used whatever they could find, like sticks, stones, or mud, to make these safe spaces. Different places around the world have different names for them, like 'kraal' or 'boma,' which are like special pens for animals in other countries.

Pens are like a cozy blanket for farm animals. They help keep them safe from wild animals and the weather. They also make it easy for farmers to feed them and check if they are healthy. Without pens, it would be much harder to take care of all the animals that help us with food and other things.
