Where Did This Super Family Come From?

A long, long time ago, a brave leader named Osman I gathered his people. They were from a group called the Oghuz Turks. They settled in a place called northwestern Anatolia. This was the very beginning of the Ottoman family, and they would go on to do amazing things for centuries!

The Ottoman Empire's Big Adventures!

The Ottoman family started a huge empire that lasted for over 600 years! That's way longer than your grandparents' grandparents have been alive! They ruled from around the year 1299 until 1922. Think of it like a really, really long school year, but for ruling a whole empire!

Who Was in Charge?

Mostly, the leader of the family, called the Sultan, was the boss. He was like the principal of the whole empire! But sometimes, other important people helped him make big decisions. It was a bit like having a class president and a teacher working together.

The End of an Era

After ruling for so long, the Ottoman Empire eventually came to an end. The leaders of the family were asked to stop ruling in 1922. Then, a new country called the Republic of Turkey was created. Some of the family members had to leave their homes for a while, but many are now back living in Turkey as regular citizens.
