Where is Nigeria?
Nigeria is a big country in Africa, way down in the west! It's like a giant doorway between a sandy desert called the Sahel up north and a big, blue ocean called the Gulf of Guinea down south. It’s bordered by other countries like Niger, Chad, Cameroon, and Benin. Nigeria is so large, it's like having 36 different playgrounds all connected together, plus a special capital city called Abuja!
Nigeria's Super-Duper Big Family!
Nigeria is home to SO many people, it's the most crowded country in all of Africa! More than 230 million people live there – that’s like filling up every single school bus in the whole world, many, many times over! It’s also the sixth most crowded country on the entire planet. With so many people, there are lots of different languages and fun traditions to discover.
Stories from Long, Long Ago!
Nigeria has been around for thousands of years! Long before anyone built big cities, people lived there and made cool things, like the Nok culture. Ancient kingdoms like the Edo and Oyo Empire were super powerful. Later, the British came and helped create the Nigeria we know today. It became a free country in 1960, which is like celebrating a big birthday every year!
What Do Nigerians Do?
People in Nigeria work in many different ways. Some people farm, growing yummy food. Others work in big cities like Lagos, which is one of the biggest cities in the world! Nigeria is known as the 'Giant of Africa' because it's so big and has a strong economy. They are also part of important groups like the United Nations, working with countries all over the world.
