Key Facts
Meet the Snowy Giant!
Mont Blanc is a super-duper tall mountain, the highest in Europe outside of a faraway place called the Caucasus Mountains. It's so high, its peak is covered in snow and ice all year round! It stands right on the border between two countries, France and Italy, like a giant snowy wall. Think of it as a magnificent, icy crown for the Alps mountain range.
Adventures on the Slopes!
People love to visit Mont Blanc for exciting adventures! In the winter, it's a wonderland for skiing and snowboarding down its snowy slopes. In the warmer months, brave hikers and climbers tackle its rocky paths to reach the very top. There's even a special route called the Goûter Route that many people use to climb to the summit, which usually takes two whole days!
A Tunnel Under the Snow!
Did you know there's a super long tunnel that goes under Mont Blanc? It's called the Mont Blanc Tunnel, and it's like a secret underground road connecting France and Italy! It's over 11 kilometers long, which is longer than 20 football fields put together. This tunnel helps cars and trucks travel between the countries much faster, even when the mountain is covered in snow.
Towns at the Mountain's Feet!
At the bottom of Mont Blanc, there are charming towns where people live. Chamonix in France is famous because it hosted the very first Winter Olympics! Another town, Courmayeur in Italy, is on the other side. You can even take a cable car that zooms high above the ground, crossing the mountain range from Chamonix to Courmayeur, giving you amazing views!
