Who Was Emperor Menelik II?

Imagine a king who was also like a superhero for his country! That was Menelik II. He was born a prince in a place called Shewa, which is part of Ethiopia today. When he grew up, he became the king of Shewa and then the Emperor of all of Ethiopia. He was super smart and brave, and he helped his country become the strongest it had ever been. He helped build a train line that went all the way to the sea, which made it easier to trade things. He also created new government offices, like schools and a bank, to help run the country smoothly. He was like the architect of modern Ethiopia!
