Martin Luther

Martin Luther was a super-smart guy who lived a long, long time ago, way back in 1483! He was like a detective for God's word, always asking questions. He was a priest and a teacher, and he loved to read the Bible. But he noticed some things in the church that didn't seem quite right to him. He thought people should be able to understand God's message for themselves, not just hear it from others.

Martin had a really big idea: he believed that God's love and forgiveness were a free gift, like getting a surprise present! You didn't have to do special chores or give money to earn it. All you needed was to believe in Jesus.

This was a huge change from what many people believed back then. He also thought that everyone who believed in God was special, like a whole team of superheroes, not just a few leaders.

One day, Martin wrote down 95 questions, like a list of things he wanted to talk about with the church leaders. He posted them for everyone to see! It was like putting up a notice on a playground bulletin board.

These questions were about things like selling special papers called 'indulgences' that people thought could get them into heaven. Martin thought this wasn't fair or right, and it started a big conversation all over the world!

Martin Luther did something amazing: he translated the Bible from an old language into German, the language people actually spoke every day. This was like making a super-popular video game available in your own language! Suddenly, lots more people could read and understand the Bible for themselves.

He also wrote songs, called hymns, that people could sing in church, making worship more joyful and lively.
