The Big Meeting in Worms!

The 'Diet of Worms' sounds like a place where worms eat, but it's actually a fancy name for a big meeting! Think of it like a super important school assembly, but for grown-ups a super long time ago. This meeting happened in a city called Worms, and lots of powerful people, like the Emperor, came to talk.

They were there to discuss big ideas and make important decisions for the whole country. It was a very serious gathering, not a place for playing tag!

The most famous part of this meeting was about a man named Martin Luther. He had some new ideas about how things should be done in the church. The Pope, who was like the boss of the church, sent a message saying Martin Luther had to take back his ideas.

But Martin Luther didn't want to! When he went to the meeting in Worms, he was asked if he would change his mind. He said 'No way!' He believed his ideas were right and wouldn't pretend they weren't.
