Lutz was the Minister of Finance, which means he managed the country's money. He was in this job from 1932 all the way to 1945. That's longer than you've been alive!
He kept his job even when different leaders were in charge. He was so important that he even became the top leader, like a temporary president, for a very short time at the very end of World War II. It was a super busy and complicated time for him and for everyone.
A Very Long Time in the Same Job!
Did you know that Lutz was one of the only people who stayed in their job with Adolf Hitler from the very beginning until the very end? That's a really long time to be in the same position! He even got a special golden badge from Hitler.
This meant he was part of Hitler's political team. He was involved in many big government decisions during those years, which made him a very important person in Germany's history.
What Happened After?
After the big war ended, Lutz had to answer for the things that happened while he was in charge of the money. He was found guilty of helping to steal money from people who were treated very badly. He was sent to prison for a while, but later he was let out early. After that, he became a writer and shared his stories. He lived a very long life and passed away when he was 89 years old.
