Key Facts
Where is Lower Saxony?
Lower Saxony is a super big place in the northwest part of Germany. It's so big, it's the second-largest state in the whole country! It has a long edge that touches the big, blue North Sea, where you can build sandcastles and splash in the waves. It also has lots of neighbors, touching many other German states and even the country of the Netherlands!
A Land of Many Faces!
This place is like a giant playground with different areas. In the north, it's flat and near the sea, with islands called the East Frisian Islands that are perfect for holidays. But as you go south, the land starts to get bumpy with hills and even the Harz Mountains, which are like big, green giants! It's the only German state with both a coastline and mountains.
What Do People Do There?
Lots of people live in Lower Saxony, about 8 million! The biggest city is called Hanover, which is like the capital where important decisions are made. Many people work in big factories, like those that make cars in Wolfsburg. Others work on farms, growing yummy apples in a special area called Altes Land, which means 'Old Country'.
Old Stories and New Homes
Lower Saxony has a long history, and some people still speak old languages like Northern Low Saxon. It was made by joining together different smaller places a long time ago, and it even uses symbols from an old kingdom called Hanover. Today, it's a modern place with busy cities and peaceful countryside where people live and work.
