Spain's Amazing Feathered Friends!

Imagine a place with sunny beaches, tall mountains, and green forests! That's Spain! Birds live all over this beautiful country. Some fly over the big islands called the Balearic Islands, and others zoom around the Canary Islands, which are far away in the ocean. There are even tiny bits of Spain in Africa where birds visit. Spain is like a giant playground for birds!

Did you know there are 664 different kinds of birds that have been seen in Spain? That's a LOT! Some birds are super rare and only show up by accident, like a surprise visitor. Others are special because they only live in Spain, like a VIP guest! A few birds were brought to Spain by people, and some of those have made Spain their permanent home.

Some birds in Spain are super special. There are birds that are only found on the Spanish islands. Sadly, one of these special island birds isn't around anymore. Also, some birds haven't been seen in Spain since way back in 1950! It's like they've gone on a very long vacation. We also have birds that are only seen in certain parts of Spain, like the Canary Islands.

Birds in Spain eat all sorts of yummy things! Some birds love to gobble up seeds and tasty bugs. Others prefer to snack on juicy fruits. Big birds of prey might hunt for smaller animals. The type of food a bird eats often depends on where it lives. If it lives near the sea, it might eat fish! If it lives in a forest, it will look for insects and berries.
