Libertarian Party (United States)

The Libertarian Party isn't a place you can visit like a park! It's an idea that started in the United States, a big country with lots of different places, from tall mountains to sunny beaches. Think of it like a recipe for how a country should work, and people all over the U.S. can choose to follow that recipe.

They don't have one special city like a capital, but they started way up high in the mountains of Colorado.

This party is like a brand new toy, but for grown-ups who think about how things should be run! It was first thought up in the summer of 1971, a long, long time ago. Imagine if you and your friends decided to start a club with special rules.

That's what happened! They officially started their party in December of that same year. They were worried about some big things happening in the country back then, like wars and rules about money.

These folks really, really believe in freedom! They think people should be able to do what they want, as long as they don't hurt anyone else. They want the government to be super small, like a tiny toy car instead of a giant truck.

They also think people should be able to keep all the money they earn and make their own choices about things like what they eat or if they want to help others. It's all about being in charge of your own life!

Today, the Libertarian Party is like the third biggest club in the whole country! That means lots of people have joined. They have people who help make rules in different states, and even one person who used to work in the big building where all the country's laws are made. They are still growing and trying to share their ideas about freedom with more and more people across the United States.
