Where is This Big Blue Ocean?

Imagine a giant blue blanket covering a part of our planet! The Laccadive Sea is like that, sitting next to India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. It’s southwest of a place called Karnataka and west of Kerala. Think of it as a big watery neighbor to these countries. It’s a warm sea, so the water stays nice and cozy all year round, perfect for swimming and for all the fishies!

Islands Like Jewels in the Water!

Scattered in the northwest part of the Laccadive Sea are the Laccadive Islands. These islands are like little green gems floating on the blue. They give the sea its name! Many big cities are also near the edge of this sea, like Kochi and Colombo. These cities are busy places where lots of people live and play by the water.

A Super Busy Underwater City!

This sea is like a bustling city for sea animals! It’s packed with so many different kinds of fish, colorful corals, and other cool creatures. One area alone, called the Gulf of Mannar, has about 3,600 different kinds of sea life. That’s more types of animals than there are kids in a really, really big school!

Warm Waters, Happy Homes

The Laccadive Sea is special because its water temperature stays the same all year. This makes it a super happy home for all the sea creatures. They don’t have to worry about getting too cold or too hot. This stable warmth helps lots of different plants and animals live and grow, making the sea full of life.
