Meet the Mountain Kingdom!

Once upon a time, there was a small country called the Kingdom of Montenegro. It was nestled in the mountains of Europe, like a secret hideout! This kingdom was a special place where a king ruled, but it was also a time when big changes were happening in the world, like before and during a giant war called World War I.

It was a constitutional monarchy, which means there was a king, but also some rules and people who helped him make decisions.

Life in the Kingdom

Life in Montenegro was pretty simple and traditional. Most people lived in the countryside, and their lives were a bit like living in a big village. They had a constitution, which is like a rulebook for the country, that said people had rights, like being able to believe what they wanted and share their ideas.

But the king, King Nikola, was still very much in charge! It was a bit like having a principal who made most of the big decisions at school.

Joining the Big Fights

Montenegro decided to join other countries in fighting against a big empire called the Ottoman Empire. They wanted to make their country a little bigger. Then, when World War I started, Montenegro joined the side called the Allied Powers. But things got tough, and another country's army took over their land. The king and his government had to leave their home for a while.

A Kingdom's Farewell

After the big war ended, the Kingdom of Montenegro didn't exist anymore. People decided to join with another country called Serbia. This was a big change, and it lasted for a very, very long time, almost 88 years! Some people weren't happy about this change, and there was even a small fight about it, but the kingdom had come to an end.
