The Boy Who Became Emperor!
Imagine being only seven years old and becoming the boss of a whole country! That's what happened to Kangxi. He was born on May 4, 1654, in China.
When his dad, the emperor, passed away, Kangxi was chosen to take his place. For a few years, older advisors helped him make big decisions, but soon he was in charge of everything. He ruled for an amazing 61 years, which is longer than any other emperor in China's history!
That's like being in school for your whole life, and then some!
Making Peace and Building Stuff!
Kangxi was a super busy emperor! He had to stop some people who were fighting against him, like a big argument called the Revolt of the Three Feudatories. He also made sure faraway places like Taiwan and parts of Mongolia became part of China.
He even helped Tibet become part of the empire. After all the fighting, Kangxi made China a peaceful and wealthy place. He started a special time called the 'Prosperous Era' that lasted for a long time.

Kangxi loved learning and books! He helped create a giant dictionary with over 40,000 Chinese characters. That's more words than you'll find in most books at your school library!
He also helped collect tons of poems and ancient writings. These books are like treasure chests of knowledge that people still read today. He wanted to make sure all the important stories and information from China's past were saved for everyone.

Kangxi was so important that he's remembered as one of China's greatest emperors. He ruled from 1661 until he died on December 20, 1722, at the age of 68. He had many children, and his fourth son became the next emperor. Kangxi's long and successful reign helped China become a strong and peaceful country for many years to come.
