Kailash Satyarthi
Key Facts
Who is This Amazing Kid-Helper?
Kailash Satyarthi is a super brave man from India who decided that all children deserve to play and learn, not work. He saw kids working in tough jobs, like making carpets or selling things, when they should have been in school. So, he started a mission to help them!
He believes every child has the right to be safe and get an education, just like you do. He's like a superhero for children's rights!
His Big Mission: Rescuing Kids!
Kailash started a special group called Bachpan Bachao Andolan, which means 'Save Childhood Movement'. Imagine a whole playground full of kids – he and his team have rescued over 130,000 children from working in dangerous places or being treated unfairly. They help these kids find safe homes and get the chance to go to school.
It’s like rescuing a whole school bus full of friends who were lost and helping them get back home to learn and play!
Walking the World for Kids!
Kailash even walked across 103 countries – that’s more countries than you can count on your fingers and toes! This huge walk was called the Global March Against Child Labour. He walked for 80,000 kilometers, which is like walking around the Earth almost twice!
He did this to tell everyone that child labor is wrong and that kids need to be in school. It was one of the biggest movements ever to help children!
Winning a Super Special Award!
Because Kailash worked so hard to help children get an education and be safe, he won the Nobel Peace Prize! This is one of the most important awards in the world. He shared it with Malala Yousafzai, another amazing person who fights for girls' education.
Winning this award showed the whole world how important it is to protect children and make sure they can all go to school and have a happy childhood.
