Child Labour: When Kids Work Instead of Play

Sometimes, children have to work to help their families. This means they don't get to go to school or play like other kids. They might do jobs that are too hard or dangerous for them. It's like asking a kindergartener to lift a giant box of toys. These jobs can be in farms, factories, or even selling things on the street. It's important for kids to be kids and learn and play safely.

For many years, it was common for children to work. In the past, families needed everyone to help earn money. Children would work in big factories, sometimes for 12 hours a day! That's longer than your whole school day, plus playtime and dinner! They didn't have safe machines or breaks. It was a very different world, and many people realized this wasn't fair to children.

Kids need to go to school to learn amazing things, like reading, math, and science. They also need time to play and make friends. Playing helps kids grow strong and learn how to solve problems.

When children have to work, they miss out on these important parts of growing up. It's like missing out on building with LEGOs or drawing a colorful picture. Everyone deserves a chance to learn and have fun!
