Këlcyrë Castle

Këlcyrë Castle is like a giant, ancient stone playground! It sits near a town called Këlcyrë. This castle is super, super old. It was first built by a group of people called the Illyrians. They were very strong and lived in this area a very, very long time ago. Think about how old your toys are, then imagine something hundreds of times older!

The Illyrians were the first builders of Këlcyrë Castle. They started building it way, way back, between 300 and 400 years BEFORE Jesus was born! That's even older than your grandparents' grandparents! They chose this spot to build their castle, probably to keep their homes and families safe. It's amazing to think about people building with stones so long ago.

This castle is a special piece of history! It tells us about the Illyrian tribes who lived here. They were some of the very first people to make this place their home. By looking at the castle, we can learn about how they lived, what they thought was important, and how they protected themselves. It’s like a time machine made of stone!
