Josef Mengele

Imagine a doctor named Josef Mengele. He was a real person who lived a long time ago. He was a doctor in Germany, but he worked in a very sad and scary place called Auschwitz. This was during a big war called World War II. He was known by a nickname that sounded scary: the 'Angel of Death'.

At Auschwitz, Josef Mengele did experiments on people. These experiments were very cruel and caused a lot of pain. He also helped decide which people would be sent to gas chambers, which was a terrible way to die. He was part of a group that made very bad choices that hurt many innocent people.

After the war ended, Josef Mengele was afraid of being caught for what he did. So, he ran away! He traveled to different countries like Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil. He tried very hard to hide from people who wanted to find him and make him answer for his actions. He lived under a different name for many years.

Even though he tried to disappear, people were still looking for him. They wanted him to face justice for the terrible things he did. He was never caught while he was alive. He eventually died by drowning in Brazil, still using a fake name. It took a long time for people to be sure it was really him.
