John F. Kennedy International Airport

Imagine a place so big it's like a tiny city just for airplanes! That's John F. Kennedy International Airport, or JFK for short.

It's in New York City, on a place called Long Island. This airport is super busy, with planes flying to almost everywhere on Earth. It's the busiest airport for international flights in all of North America.

Think of it as a giant playground for airplanes, where they get ready to take off on amazing adventures!

JFK is like a super-duper busy train station, but for planes! Over 90 different airlines fly from here. That means you can hop on a plane and go to places on every continent where people live.

It has five big buildings called terminals where people wait for their flights. It also has four long runways, which are like special roads for planes to take off and land. It's a very important place for people to travel far away!

This airport wasn't always called JFK. It first opened a long, long time ago, in 1948, and people called it Idlewild Airport. But then, something very sad happened. A very important person named John F. Kennedy was no longer with us. To remember him and how much he meant to everyone, the airport was renamed in his honor. Now, every time a plane lands or takes off, it's a reminder of him.

Getting to JFK is an adventure too! You can go by car on special highways like the JFK Expressway. Or, you can take a bus or even a train! Once you're there, you'll see lots of people and bags.
