Meet the Ancient City of Isin!

Isin was a real city a super, super long time ago, even before your grandparents' grandparents were born! It was in a place called Iraq, far away in the desert. Think of it like a big playground from history, but instead of swings and slides, it had houses, temples, and lots of people living there. It was a busy place for thousands of years!

A Goddess Who Healed!

The people of Isin really loved a goddess named Gula. She was known as the goddess of healing, like a super doctor from ancient times! They built a special big temple just for her, called E-gal-ma. They also had smaller places for other gods and goddesses who helped with healing too. It shows how important being healthy was to them.

Isin's Amazing Timeline!

Isin wasn't built in a day! It started way, way back, even before writing was invented. Then, people kept living there and building more things for a very, very long time. It was around for so long that it saw many different rulers and changes. It's like a city that kept getting new toys and rooms added for thousands of years!

Where Is This Old City?

Isin is now an archaeological site, which means it's a place where scientists dig up old things to learn about the past. It's in a part of Iraq called Al-Qādisiyyah Governorate. It's about as far from a modern city as a long school bus ride. Even though the city isn't there anymore, the ground still holds amazing secrets!
