Where is This Giant Piece?

This enormous plate is like a super-sized island! It carries Australia and the big country of India. It also has lots of ocean water on top. Think of it like a giant raft made of land and sea, floating on a gooey, hot layer deep inside the Earth. It's always slowly drifting around, like a boat on a very, very slow river.

Why Does It Move?

Deep under our feet, the Earth is like a giant pot of thick soup that’s always bubbling. This bubbling soup is super hot and makes the big pieces of land, called plates, move around. The Indo-Australian plate is one of these giant pieces. It’s not moving fast enough for us to feel, but over millions of years, it has traveled huge distances!

What's on This Plate?

On this plate, you’ll find amazing places! There’s Australia with its kangaroos and koalas, and the huge country of India with its colorful festivals and spicy food. There are also vast oceans and mountains. Because the plate is so big, it has many different kinds of weather, from hot deserts to rainy forests.

A Plate That's Changing!

Guess what? This giant plate isn't staying the same! Scientists think it might be breaking into smaller pieces, like a cookie that’s cracking. This means the land on top is also changing very, very slowly. It’s like the Earth is always rearranging its furniture, but on a scale so big it takes ages!
