Sri Lanka: An Island Adventure Through Time!

People have lived in Sri Lanka for a super long time, even before the dinosaurs disappeared! The very first people arrived about 35,000 years ago. That’s way, way before your grandparents were born, or even their grandparents!

They lived in caves and hunted for food. Later, brave explorers sailed to the island and started building kingdoms, like building giant sandcastles that lasted for hundreds of years.

A very important story tells of Prince Vijaya, who sailed to Sri Lanka with 700 friends a super long time ago. He started the first big kingdom! Later, a special message arrived from India, bringing the peaceful teachings of Buddhism. This became a very important part of life for many people on the island. Imagine a king sharing a wonderful new game with everyone!

Sri Lanka is close to India, so people from India visited and sometimes even ruled parts of the island. There were brave fights to protect their homes.
