Hindkowans

Imagine a group of people who speak a language called Hindko! These folks are called Hindkowans. They live near people who speak another language called Pashto. The word Hindko just means 'language from India.' So, it's not about being one big family, but about the language they share. It's like how some people in your town might speak Spanish or French, but they are still your neighbors!

Hindkowans live in a beautiful part of the world called Pakistan. Some of them are known by special names depending on where they live. If they are from a place called Hazara, they might be called Hazarewal. If they live in the big city of Peshawar, they can be called Pishoris. It's like calling someone from New York a 'New Yorker'!

A long time ago, some Hindkowans, who were Hindu and Sikh, were very important traders. They traveled and settled in many places, even far away. They were like the shopkeepers and business owners of their towns. They helped make the towns busy and exciting places to live and trade.

Guess what? There are millions of people who speak Hindko! In Pakistan alone, there are about 5.5 million Hindko speakers. That's more people than can fit in a giant stadium many, many times over! They are a big part of the culture and life in the places where they live.
