Herat Province

Herat Province is like a big puzzle piece in the western part of Afghanistan. It’s so big that it touches two other countries: Iran on one side and Turkmenistan on the other! This makes it a super important spot for trading.

Think of it like a busy crossroads where people and goods travel from all over. The main city, also called Herat, is like the province's brain, where all the important decisions are made.

Herat Province has a special river called the Hari River that flows through it. This river is like a lifeline, helping farmers grow yummy food. There’s even a giant dam called the Salma Dam built on this river!

Dams are like huge walls that hold back water, and this one helps make sure there’s enough water for everyone and even makes electricity. The land here is mostly dry, but the rivers help keep things green.

Herat is super old, with stories going back thousands of years! It was once called the 'Pearl of Khorasan' because it was so special. People used to make delicious wine there a long, long time ago.

The province is home to about 3.8 million people, which is a lot! That’s more people than live in many big cities. It’s also divided into about 17 smaller areas called districts, with over 2,000 villages scattered around.

People in Herat Province work hard at many jobs. They are farmers, traders, and builders. Because it’s near other countries, lots of trading happens here. They also have two airports, which are like giant parking lots for airplanes, helping people and things travel quickly. There’s even a big military base, which is like a super-secure camp for soldiers. It’s a busy and important place!
