A Journey Through Time!

Hejaz has been around for a super long time! It’s where the prophet Muhammad was born in Mecca, a city that’s said to be founded by Abraham, Ishmael, and Hagar. Over many years, different empires ruled this land, like the powerful Ottoman Empire. For a little while, Hejaz was even its own kingdom before joining up with other lands to become the amazing country of Saudi Arabia we know today!

Amazing Cities and Holy Places!

Hejaz is famous for its two holiest cities in Islam: Mecca and Medina. These cities are like super important destinations for millions of people every year. Imagine a place that’s visited by so many people because it’s so special!

Because so many people come from all over, the people in Hejaz come from many different backgrounds, but most are of Arab origin. They speak Arabic, with a special local accent called Hejazi Arabic.

What Do People Do in Hejaz?

Since Hejaz is home to incredibly important religious sites, many people who live and work there are involved in helping visitors and pilgrims. Jeddah, the biggest city, is a busy port on the Red Sea, so lots of trading happens there, like ships bringing in goods from all over the world. People also work in shops, restaurants, and in the cities, making sure everything runs smoothly for everyone who lives there and visits.
