Make It an EPIC 2012 Guy Fawkes Night

Key Facts
Who Was Guy Fawkes?
Long, long ago, in 1605, there was a man named Guy Fawkes. He was part of a secret plan to do something very bad. The plan was to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London, where the King and important people met. But, luckily, the plan was discovered before it could happen, and Guy Fawkes was caught!
Why All the Bonfires and Fireworks?
When the King and Parliament were saved, people were so happy and relieved! To celebrate that everyone was safe, they lit big bonfires all over London. Over time, this turned into a special night with amazing fireworks displays. It's a way to remember that the bad plan didn't work and to have a fun, noisy celebration.
Making Guys and Burning Them!
People started making scarecrow-like figures called 'Guys' to look like Guy Fawkes. They would dress them up and sometimes even parade them around. Then, they would put these 'Guys' on top of the bonfires! It was a funny way to show they remembered the event and were glad the plot failed. Sometimes, people still make 'Guys' today.
A Night for Sparkles and Fun
Today, Guy Fawkes Night is mostly about having a fantastic time with family and friends. We gather to watch dazzling fireworks light up the sky and enjoy the warmth of bonfires. It’s a night filled with oohs and aahs, and it’s a tradition that has been happening for hundreds of years!
