Rwanda: The Land of a Thousand Hills!

Rwanda is a country tucked away in Africa, far from any ocean. It's like a secret garden filled with green, rolling hills that go up and down, up and down! It's called the 'Land of a Thousand Hills' because there are so many. Imagine climbing a hill and seeing another one, and another one, stretching as far as your eyes can see. The capital city, Kigali, is right in the middle of all these hills.

Rwanda sits very high up, like being on top of a tall building! This makes the weather nice and not too hot, even though it's close to the Equator. Think of it like a cozy blanket of air. Because it's so high, you can see amazing things like volcanoes that are sleeping, wide open grassy fields called savannas, and lots and lots of sparkling lakes. It's a place full of natural wonders!

Rwanda has four neighbors, like friends sharing a big playground. To the north is Uganda, to the east is Tanzania, to the south is Burundi, and to the west is the huge Democratic Republic of the Congo. Even though it's surrounded by these countries, Rwanda itself doesn't touch the sea. It's a landlocked country, meaning you can't just walk to a beach from there.

Rwanda is part of a very special area in Africa called the Great Rift Valley. This is a giant crack in the Earth's surface, and it's why Rwanda has so many interesting landforms, like mountains and lakes. It's a place where different parts of Africa meet, making it a unique spot with lots to explore. This special location helps create all the beautiful hills and valleys.
