Ġgantija: Homes of the Giants!

Long, long ago, on an island called Gozo, people built amazing stone buildings called Ġgantija. The name Ġgantija means 'place of giants'! These buildings are super old, even older than the famous pyramids in Egypt. They were built by people who lived in a time called the Neolithic period. It's like they were building with giant LEGOs, but these were real stones!

These stone buildings are HUGE! Some of the stones are as tall as a grown-up person, and they are very, very heavy. Imagine trying to move a stone bigger than a car! People back then didn't have cranes or trucks. They used their strength and clever ideas to move these giant rocks to build these special places. It's a mystery how they did it!

People think Ġgantija was a special place for ceremonies, like a big party or a special meeting. They found little statues and figures there that might have been used for wishing for good luck or for plants to grow. It's like they were praying to make sure they had enough food. The stories say a giantess named Sansuna built them!

Ġgantija is one of the oldest buildings in the whole world made by people. It's so special that it's part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which means it's protected for everyone to see. It tells us a lot about how people lived a very, very long time ago and the amazing things they could build with teamwork and imagination.
