Field Lacrosse

Field lacrosse is a super exciting team sport played outside on a big field. Two teams try to score by throwing a special rubber ball into the other team's net using long sticks with nets on the end. It's called the 'fastest sport on two feet' because players run a LOT! It's a bit like a mix of soccer, hockey, and basketball, but with a unique stick.

This game has ancient roots! It was first played by Native American tribes hundreds of years ago. They called it 'stickball' and it was a huge event, sometimes played with hundreds of people and over long distances. The modern game we play today was organized in Canada a long time ago, in 1867.

The main goal is to score by shooting the ball into the opponent's goal. Players use their sticks to catch, carry, and pass the ball. They can't use their hands to touch the ball, except for the goalie! Players also wear lots of cool protective gear, like helmets and pads, because it can be a bit rough sometimes, with players trying to take the ball away.

To play field lacrosse, you need a special stick called a 'crosse' which has a net to catch the ball. You also need a hard rubber ball. Because it's a contact sport, players wear important safety gear. This includes helmets with face masks, shoulder pads, elbow pads, and gloves to protect their hands. Everyone wears cleats on their shoes for good grip on the grass field.
