Earth's Big Fever!

Imagine Earth has a fever! That's kind of what's happening. The air is getting warmer, like when you have a cold. This warming is called climate change. It's like the planet is wearing too many blankets, and we're adding more and more! This makes ice melt, oceans rise, and weather get a bit wilder. It's a big change for all the plants, animals, and people who live here.

Where Did This Fever Come From?

This warming started a long time ago, when people began using lots of machines that burn fuel, like cars and factories. These machines send out invisible gases that trap heat, like a greenhouse traps sunshine. The more gases we send up, the warmer Earth gets. It's like turning up the heat in a room โ€“ it gets hotter and hotter. Scientists have been noticing this change for many years.

Why Should We Care About Earth's Fever?

This fever is a big deal! When ice melts, it makes the oceans bigger, which can flood places where people live. Animals like polar bears need ice to hunt, so they might lose their homes. Hotter weather can also make it harder to grow food. It's important because Earth is our home, and we want it to be a safe and happy place for everyone, including all the amazing animals and plants!

What Happens When Earth Gets Too Hot?

When Earth gets too warm, things start to change in surprising ways. Some places get much drier, like a desert, while others get too much rain. Fires can start more easily in dry forests. The ocean can get too warm for fish and coral reefs. Even the ground in very cold places can start to melt! These changes can be hard for nature to fix, and sometimes they can't be undone.
