A Friend to the Gentle Giants!

Imagine a super-smart lady named Dian Fossey who loved gorillas more than anything! She traveled all the way to the misty mountains of Africa to live with them. Dian spent her days watching them play, eat, and even hug! She learned their secrets and became their biggest protector, like a superhero for gorillas.

Living in the Wild Jungle!

Dian set up a special camp called Karisoke Research Center right in the middle of the jungle. It was like her own little house, but surrounded by amazing gorillas! She would sit quietly and observe them, sometimes for hours. It was like watching a giant, furry family right in their own home.

Gorillas Are Smart Too!

Before Dian, many people didn't know how special gorillas are. But Dian showed everyone that gorillas are very intelligent and have feelings, just like us! She saw them use tools and even show sadness. This helped people understand that gorillas deserve to be safe and protected, not hurt.

Saving the Gorillas' Home!

Sadly, some people would hurt gorillas or take them away. Dian worked super hard to stop this. She told everyone how important gorillas are and why their homes in the mountains needed to be kept safe. Because of her, more gorillas are alive today!
