Where is Brazil?

Brazil is a super big country in South America, a continent that looks like a giant boot kicking! It has long, sandy beaches and huge, green forests called the Amazon rainforest. The weather is usually warm, perfect for growing yummy fruits and playing outside. Many rivers flow through Brazil, like giant watery highways! It's a land of sunshine and amazing nature.

The First Visitors!

A long, long time ago, people from a country called Portugal sailed across the big ocean to Brazil. They were looking for a special red wood called brazilwood, which was used to make beautiful red dyes. This wood was so important it even gave Brazil its name! For about 300 years, Brazil was like a big farm and treasure chest for Portugal.

Sweet Sugar and Shiny Gold!

After the brazilwood, Brazilians started growing lots of sugar cane to make sweet sugar. They also found amazing amounts of gold and sparkling diamonds! These treasures were sent back to Portugal. To help with all the work, many people were brought from Africa to work on the farms and in the mines. It was a busy time!

Brazil Today!

Even though Brazil isn't a colony anymore, it's still a very special place. The people speak Portuguese, just like in Portugal! Brazil is famous for its lively music, colorful festivals like Carnival, and delicious food. It’s the biggest country in South America and has so many different kinds of people and traditions, all living together.
