The main city where she lived and ruled was called St. Petersburg, a beautiful city with canals like Venice.

She met Peter the Great, the ruler of Russia, and he was very impressed by her. They fell in love, got married, and she became his wife. When Peter the Great passed away, Catherine became the empress herself!
