Blue Nile

The Blue Nile is a super important river that starts its journey in a big lake called Lake Tana, way up in the country of Ethiopia. From there, it travels a very, very long way, about 900 miles! That's like driving from New York City to Miami, Florida! It flows through Ethiopia and then into another country called Sudan. It's like a giant watery highway connecting different places.

The Blue Nile isn't alone; it has a twin brother called the White Nile. Together, they are the two main parts that make up the famous Nile River. Think of them like two big streams that join to make one enormous river. During the rainy season, the Blue Nile is like a superhero, bringing about 85.6% of the water to the Nile! That's a LOT of water!

The Blue Nile gets its amazing amount of water from the rain that falls in Ethiopia. This water rushes down from the mountains and collects in Lake Tana, which is like a giant bathtub for the river. When the rains are heavy, the river gets bigger and stronger, carrying lots of water all the way down to the Nile. It's a natural process that has been happening for thousands of years.

The Blue Nile is super special because it gives so much water to the Nile River, which is one of the longest rivers in the world! Many people and animals have lived near the Nile for a very long time because it provides water for drinking, farming, and traveling.
