WOW Fact
The British-Egyptian army had machine guns that could shoot many bullets very quickly!

Why Were They Fighting?

Long ago, in a land called Sudan, there was a big disagreement. One side, led by a man named the Khalifa, wanted to rule. The other side, from Britain and Egypt, wanted to take control too.

They were also a little bit angry because, years before, the Khalifa's warriors had captured a city and someone important had been hurt. So, the British and Egyptian leaders decided to send a big army to Sudan to make sure they won.

The Big Day!

On a sunny morning, a huge army of Sudanese warriors, maybe as many as 50,000 people, ran towards the British and Egyptian soldiers. That's more people than can fit in a whole school! But the British and Egyptian army had amazing new toys: super-fast guns that could shoot many bullets and big cannons.

They were also very organized. The Sudanese warriors were very brave, but their weapons weren't as fast or powerful.

Super Speedy Guns!

The battle was like a race! The British and Egyptian army had machine guns that could shoot hundreds of bullets a minute, like a super-fast sprinkler of danger! They also had powerful cannons that boomed loudly. The Sudanese warriors, though brave and many, used older weapons. This made it very hard for them. The battle didn't last too long because the new machines were so effective.

Who Won and What Happened Next?

The British and Egyptian army won the battle! This showed everyone how powerful their new machines and training were. After this big win, they were able to take control of Sudan. It was a very important moment because it changed who was in charge of that part of the world. It also showed that new technology could make a huge difference in battles.
