Battle of Aleppo (1918)

Imagine a huge war, like a really, really long game of tag, that was almost over. In this war, there was a big army called the Ottoman Empire. After they lost a big battle, their soldiers tried to run away!

They were running north, like when you run home from school. The soldiers chasing them were called the Sherifial Forces, led by a brave prince named Feisal. They were super fast, like race cars, trying to catch the other team before the game was totally over.

The soldiers who were running away from the big war tried to hide in a city called Aleppo. But Prince Feisal's fast soldiers were right behind them! They had to travel a long way, even after capturing another city called Damascus.

Sometimes, the chasing soldiers got sick, which slowed them down a little, like when you have a cold and can't play. But they still kept going, using special cars with big guns to help them catch up.

When Prince Feisal's soldiers got close to Aleppo, they found some enemy soldiers trying to stop them. It was like a big roadblock! But instead of stopping, they snuck around the roadblock in the dark, like ninjas!

They quietly entered the city while everyone else was sleeping. Then, the fighting started right in the streets, like a noisy game of hide-and-seek gone wild. By the time the sun came up, the city was theirs!

Capturing Aleppo was like scoring the winning goal in that giant war game! It happened right at the very end of the fighting, showing that Prince Feisal's team was winning.
