Bagram Airfield

Bagram Airfield is a super big place in a country called Afghanistan. It's like a giant playground for airplanes! It has two super long runways, which are like roads for planes to land and take off. One runway is so long, it's longer than 30 football fields put together! This giant airport has lots of buildings and places for planes to park safely.

This amazing place wasn't always here! A long, long time ago, in the 1950s, people from a country called the Soviet Union built it. It was like building a brand new toy for the country. Later, people from the United States came and made it even bigger and better, adding more runways and buildings. It became a really important spot for airplanes.

Bagram Airfield was like the biggest home for American airplanes in Afghanistan. Lots of brave people worked there, flying planes and keeping everything running. It even had a hospital with beds and operating rooms, just like a regular hospital, but for people working at the airfield. It was a busy hub of activity!

This airfield has seen a lot! It was built on the land where an old town used to be. For many years, it was a very busy place for military planes. In 2021, things changed, and the base was handed over to new leaders. It's a place with a long story that continues to unfold.
