Who Was Al-Saffah?
Imagine a super important leader who started a whole new chapter for a big empire! That was Al-Saffah. He was the very first Caliph, which is like a king or president, of the Abbasid Caliphate. This was a super long and important time in history. Al-Saffah was born a long, long time ago, around the year 721. He became the leader and helped create a new ruling family that changed things a lot.
His Nickname: The Blood-Shedder!
Al-Saffah had a nickname that sounds a bit scary: 'al-Saffah,' which means 'the Blood-Shedder.' Why such a tough name? Well, when he became the leader, he was very determined to win and keep his power. He was known for being strong and not backing down.
