Yangtze Giant Softshell Turtle

This is one of the biggest turtles in the whole world! It has a soft shell, not a hard one like you might see on a playground slide. It's so big, it's like a giant, slow-moving rock in the water. These turtles love to swim and hide in rivers and lakes. They are very shy and don't like to be seen by people.

These amazing turtles used to live in big rivers in China and Vietnam. Think of a super long river, like a watery highway! They liked to swim in the freshwater, looking for yummy snacks. But sadly, there aren't many of them left in these rivers anymore. It's like a favorite toy disappearing from the toy box.

Sadly, these turtles are in big trouble. There are only two or maybe three left in the whole world! It's like having only one or two of your favorite cookies left.
