Wood Thrush

Key Facts
Meet the Wood Thrush!
Imagine a little bird with warm brown feathers on its back and a tummy speckled with white and brown. That's the Wood Thrush! It's a medium-sized bird, about as long as your hand. Both boy and girl Wood Thrushes look very similar, so it's hard to tell them apart just by looking. They are like nature's tiny musicians, always ready to sing their hearts out.
A Song That Wows!
The most amazing thing about the Wood Thrush is its song! People say it's the most beautiful bird song in all of North America. The boy birds sing to attract girlfriends and tell other boys to stay away from their homes. Their songs are like a magical flute playing a special tune. Itβs a sound that makes you want to stop and listen every time you hear it.
What's for Dinner?
Wood Thrushes are busy eaters! They love to gobble up wiggly worms and other tiny bugs they find in the dirt. They also enjoy munching on yummy berries when they are in season. In the summer, they eat bugs all day long to get enough energy to fly and sing. They are like little chefs, always searching for the freshest ingredients in the forest.
Home Sweet Forest Home
These birds like to live in forests with lots of trees and bushes, especially in places like the eastern United States. When winter comes, they fly south to warmer places like Mexico and Central America for a vacation! They are very good at finding their own special spot in the woods to build a nest and raise their families.
