Meet Kaiser Wilhelm!
Wilhelm II was born a prince in Germany way back on January 27, 1859. He was the grandson of Queen Victoria, a very famous queen from England! Wilhelm grew up to be the Emperor of Germany, which is like being the most important leader. He was known for his strong personality and his love for the German navy, wanting it to be as big and powerful as Britain's!
A Royal with Big Ideas!
Kaiser Wilhelm II loved to be in charge and had lots of ideas. He wanted Germany to be a super-strong country with a huge navy and lots of colonies around the world. He was also famous for his sometimes grumpy mood and his quick temper. He loved to wear fancy military uniforms and was often seen with his hand tucked into his jacket, which was a famous pose!
When Things Went Wrong...
Wilhelm II became Emperor in 1888. He made some big decisions that worried other countries. He wanted Germany to have more power, and this made other leaders nervous. Sadly, his actions and the actions of other leaders helped lead to a giant war called World War I, which was a very sad time for everyone.
Life After Being Emperor
After Germany lost World War I, Wilhelm II had to give up his throne in 1918. He was no longer the Emperor! He moved away to live in the Netherlands and spent the rest of his life there. He died on June 4, 1941, a very long time ago. Even though he was no longer in charge, his decisions had changed the world a lot.
