Super Builders of America!

The United States Army Corps of Engineers, or USACE for short, is like a giant team of super builders! They are part of the U.S. Army, but most of them are regular people, not soldiers.

They have a super important job: building and taking care of things that help everyone. Think of them as the people who make sure our country is safe and works well. They build big things like dams to control rivers and bridges to cross them.

They also help the Army build places for soldiers to live and work. It's a huge job that helps keep our country strong!

From Long Ago to Today!

These engineers have been around for a super long time! They started way back in 1775, even before the United States was a country! Back then, they helped build things for the army.

Over many years, their job grew. They started building things for everyone, not just the army. They helped build canals so boats could travel, and they learned how to stop big floods from ruining homes.

Today, they are still building and helping, making sure our country is safe from floods and that our rivers are easy to travel on.

Masters of Water and Land!

One of the coolest things the USACE does is work with water! They build huge dams that hold back rivers, creating big lakes. These dams help stop floods from happening, which is super important for people living nearby.

They also make sure rivers are deep enough for big boats to sail, which helps us get things we need. Sometimes, they even help make damaged rivers healthy again! They also build and take care of military bases all over the world, making sure soldiers have safe places to train and live.

A Team of Many!

Did you know that almost everyone who works for the Army Corps of Engineers is a civilian? That means they are not soldiers, but regular people who are really good at building and planning. There are about 37,000 people on the team!

They work in offices and out on building sites. They are like a giant construction company that works for the government. They use their smarts and hard work to build amazing things that help our country every single day.
