Transylvania

Transylvania is a special region nestled in the heart of Europe, in a country called Romania. It's like a giant hug from the Carpathian Mountains, which are like huge, bumpy walls protecting it. To the west, there are other mountains called the Apuseni Mountains. These mountains make the land look super beautiful with green forests and rolling hills, perfect for adventures!

Long, long ago, brave warriors and kings ruled Transylvania. It was part of the Dacian Kingdom and then the Roman Empire. Later, Hungarian tribes arrived and made it part of their kingdom. For a long time, it was like a special kingdom of its own, sometimes protected by the Ottoman Empire and sometimes by the Habsburgs. It has seen so many different rulers and stories!

Transylvania has some of the coolest, oldest cities you can imagine! Cities like Cluj-Napoca, Brașov, and Sibiu have buildings that look like they are from a fairy tale. Some places even have special churches with walls around them, called fortified churches, to keep people safe.

These places are so special they are called UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which means they are treasures for the whole world!

You might have heard stories about Transylvania and vampires, thanks to a famous book called Dracula! But the real Transylvania is full of friendly people and amazing history. It's a place where different cultures have lived together for a very long time, sharing their traditions and making the region so unique and interesting. It's a land of real wonders!
