Toop (boat)

A toop is a special kind of boat that looks like a little house on the water! It's not like the speedy boats you might see at the beach. Instead, it's built to be a cozy home for people who lived on rivers and lakes a very long time ago.

These amazing floating homes were first built by people called the 'Marsh Arabs' who lived in a place called Mesopotamia. That's a very old name for a land between two rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates. They lived in this watery world for thousands of years, and the toop was their perfect way to travel and live.

They used reeds, which are like tall grass that grows near water, to build these boats. It's like they used nature's building blocks to create their homes on the water!
